The 28 spline 8.8 has the same size axle tubes as the 7.5; heck, they even use the same axle shafts. The only difference in the 7.5 and 8.8 28 spline is the center section of the axle. The 31 spline 8.8 has larger diameter axle tubes and obviously 31 spline axle shafts.
